Sometimes I wonder why it rains every Sunday, when the children are sick of their parents and the parents want to go to markets or garden or tinker it rains leaving everyone grouchy. Very poor idea in my opinion. I must have words with the person in charge.
It is raining and it is Sunday but actually things have been going very well. My darling children are snoozing (aren't all children darling when they are asleep?) away having tidied up their Duplo for the bribe of a choccy button, there is fresh bread cooling, chick peas roasting in the oven, the rain is outside and our house is snug and comfortable. It is also free of house guests. We have recently recovered from a ten day house guest, we invited him for a couple of days asking if he could come and help us with the move and talk business with us as we are wanting to expand, instead he came three weeks later(when his children were holidaying with their mum so he had nothing else to fill his time) for ten days, watched TV all day, moaned about his ex, talked over the top of everyone, left lights on, never offered to pay for food or fuel, swore in front of the children and talked rubbish about TV and told very graphic anecdotes about past sexual conquests- all incessantly. Oh and he evaluated EVERY female he saw based on her looks and what he might like to do with her, every single one, even cartoon characters on TV! But anyway, inconsiderate house guests aside, we have found that being as family is much more delightful since we have got back to normal, we are all so relieved to be with each other and be ourselves!
The boys have been helping with the gardening, choosing plants for the planters and mulching and watering as well, we have parsley growing and basil popping up in the propagator and perpetual spinach, kale, Swiss chard and Moroccan mint in the planters, A mushroom kit will hopefully be bounteous and the chickens are secured away in a yard made mostly from things we found down the side of the shed. Speaking of chickens I do think it is about time they started to lay again, I have become used to cooking with lots of eggs and now the girls have their feathers back I do think it is rather rude of them to not start up with the supplies!I have been forced to buy again and the little tiny free range eggs from the fruit shop are very cheap but sometimes I need three instead of two for a recipe.
I have been buying a fortnightly veg. box from Hilbarn and must remember to take a photo next time I get one. The boxes are giving me lots of inspiration for veggieful foods which we sorely need but I would love to be making with my own produce.
